ACT LGBT A.C. and a group of 17 tourism service providers from Puerto Vallarta and the region, recently obtained the LGBT certification granted by the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat (Secturjal) and Talento Consultores, to establishments that meet high standards of product and service oriented to the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender (LGBT) tourism segment.
The certificate was delivered at the Marriott CasaMagna Hotel after the certification course that was given last May 25 at the facilities of the Fiesta Americana Grand hotel, with the efforts of the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Tourism Trust.
With this delivery, there are already 21 companies with LGBT certification in this destination, of which half are first class hotels, as well as restaurants, tour operators, transport companies, among others.
The Director of Promotion, Marketing and Public Relations of the Tourism Trust (Fidetur), Luis Villaseñor, emphasized that Puerto Vallarta has been for more than three decades a destination that welcomes all and all being recognized worldwide as inclusive, “that is why we are initiating a joint strategy with government, entrepreneurs and society for the benefit of industry and economic pumping”.
Meanwhile, the delegate of the Secturjal, Ludwig Estrada Virgen, acknowledged the efforts made by certified companies to prepare themselves, train their staff, motivate them to become certified and be ready to attend in the most professional manner to this segment, which has a strong economic potential within the travel industry.
For his part, Juan Antonio Arellano, director of the certifying company Talento Consultores, praised that Jalisco has taken very important steps to recognize the LGBT community, “particularly the tourism sector of Puerto Vallarta has been involved in raising awareness and training the service providers”.
