There are many benefits to being a LGBT-Friendly business in today’s competitive business climate. By becoming a Certified LGBT-Friendly business, you announce to the world that you understand that a just moral approach to business is also the best business strategy.
The size of the global LGBT market is huge. Credible surveys estimate the consumer spending by LGBT households to be nearly $750 billion US dollars. Leisure travel spending by LGBT U.S. citizens and residents exceeded $184 billion in 2013, according to a recent survey by Out Now, and Community Marketing, the leading LGBT travel marketing firm reports that 42% took a vacation of 5 nights or more in the past year. Part of the mission of ACT LGBT is to position and maintain Puerto Vallarta as a favorite destination for LGBT vacation travelers, and to capture a share if this lucrative market.
As a Certified LGBT-Friendly business, ACT LGBT can help YOUR business attract loyal LGBT customers. However, there is more to being a Certified LGBT-Friendly business than just attracting LGBT+ customers and the money they bring. Certified LGBT-Friendly businesses support our local community, and provide a welcoming and equal workplace for employees. These are also policies that are good for your business!
When LGBT employees feel valued and treated with equality and respect, they are more productive, and far less likely to consider seeking other employment – and we all know how costly high employee turnover can be. Good business managers know that policies promoting staff retention and satisfaction are good business. Out Now, a Dutch marketing consultancy specializing in LGBT studies published a survey in 2015 (LGBT Diversity: Show Me The Business Case), and reporting results from 10 countries (including Mexico) found that where LGBT employees are open and comfortable with their identity in the workplace are 17% less likely to consider seeking other employment.
When you become known for supporting the local LGBT community, you tap into a social network of people who will share your positive efforts with their friends and family from all over the world. That builds your reputation and brings more LGBT customers to your business. LGBT consumers are highly brand-loyal to businesses that support the LGBT community and causes.
