Mexico City, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara are the preferred tourist destinations for the LGBT community, said the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur).
In an infographic published on his Twitter account this Friday, the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reported that annually, Cancun, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara receive about three and a half million visitors belonging to the LGBT segment, demand surpassed only by Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, in Latin America.
The Sectur stressed that since 2015 work is being done to consolidate the tourism infrastructure aimed at this community with events at national and international level. From 2014 to date we have worked on the consolidation and innovation of tourist products from 11 destinations, such as Puerto Vallarta, Morelos, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Mexico City, Puebla, Veracruz, Guadalajara, Tequila, Riviera Maya and Tlaquepaque.
He said that in May of this year, Mexico participated in the 34th edition of the Annual Convention of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) in order to attract tourists to national destinations. He recalled that the Tianguis Turístico of 2016 and 2017 had a pavilion aimed at this sector that exhibited the offer of Mexican destinations.
