The Board of Directors meets at least once a month. Recognized for their experience and vast knowledge in business, the president and board members develop strategies and innovative projects that help position ACT LGBT A.C. as one of the most important economic players in Puerto Vallarta.
Gene, a Mexican national, owns Fusion Gourmet Restaurant and Diablos Bar. He has extensive management experience both in USA and in Mexico. He holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA), a Master in Science in Management Information Systems (MSMIS) and a Bachelor in International Business.
He is a member of other non-for-profit organizations and works closely with the city officials of Puerto Vallarta for the betterment of the streets, security, police and firefighter departments in Old Town Vallarta.
Julie was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She visited Puerto Vallarta for the first time in 2008 while working as a consultant on training solutions for Latin America for a global consulting firm. She left corporate life in 2009 and began her next chapter in Puerto Vallarta as owner of No Way! José restaurant.
With 36 years of business experience in the healthcare and legal and executive consulting fields, Julie passionately promotes Puerto Vallarta as a board member of the Vallarta Botanical Gardens, Democrats Abroad Bahía de Banderas, CANIRAC and she is a founding member of ACT LGBT A.C.
Bill is a long term resident of Puerto Vallarta. He is a rental and sales agent at Ron Morgan Properties and a proud member of AMPI. Five years ago Bill and his partner Raul Duran opened BuenFlex Clothing, a locally manufactured clothing and promotional business.
Bill’s love of Puerto Vallarta is carried into all his activities. Bill is most proud of his advocacy work with the city to promote tourism year round and Puerto Vallarta as a gay-friendly destination at national and international levels. Bill is a founding member of ACT LGBT A.C. and Vallarta Pride.
Paul has been the owner and general manager of Hotel Mercurio since 2002. From 2003 to 2010, he directed SIDA A.C., a nonprofit organization he founded shortly after arriving in Puerto Vallarta from Washington, D.C. He is active with Mexico Democrats Abroad and has led an effort to obtain medical insurance for retired Americans living in Mexico under Medicare.
He serves on the boards of various political organizations, has organized large-scale fundraising events for the Democratic Party and has extensive experience in project management. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Economics.
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Gary spent most of his time in Orange County before moving to Puerto Vallarta 11 years ago. He brings strong expertise to the table in his current role as Director of Corporate Development for a national not-for-profit health organization.
He has a passion for many causes and has served as Lieutenant Governor for Kiwanis International and Regional Advisor for Key Club International. In Puerto Vallarta, Gary is co-chair of the annual Mardi Gras Carnival parade and Fire Department’s Hero’s Calendar fundraiser as well as other local projects.
Armando graduated from the Tourism Program at the University of Guadalajara with a major in Marketing. He is originally from Mazatlán, Sinaloa and has lived in Puerto Vallarta for 14 years. After working in the hotel industry, he ventured into real estate, specializing in vacation rentals.
Three years ago, his entrepreneurial spirit, responsibility and dedication made him co-owner of Palmera Vacations, a rental agency specializing in the Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán markets. He is also a founding member of ACT LGBT A.C. and Vallarta Pride.
